  The long road home
Well, I'm posting, so I must have made it home safe from Missouri.
We had a really nice road trip, put a lot of miles on the Land Rover, ate some bad Slim-Jim, had some excellent biscuites and gravy, lost a game of Rugby and got to see a little bit of Kansas City.
It was a really nice trip though. Amazing i had to drive 8.5 hours to be somewhere where I could just relax.
We took some pictures of the gliders when we got home, the babies seemed to grow a lot over the weekend! they were much more active and compotent in motion than they were 4 days ago when last i played with them. Abrigella is still easier to upset than Cagel, but they both settled down and played with us. I'll get the pictures up as soon as I can.

  Rugby in MO
I'm getting ready to head out to Missouri this weekend.
I haven't been there in about 15 years.
We will be making the 8.5 hour drive to Kansas City Missouri.

Elisa has a rugby game down there this weekend. The plan is to leave my house at about 2 (20 minutes from the time of this posting) and make the long drive, to get down there before 11pm.
I'm not sure what time her game is on Saturday, but we want to get plenty of rest tonight, so the sooner the better.

  Baby glider update
Nope...Sorry, no new pictures at this time.
The Babies are doing really well however. Their fur is getting much thicker, their eyes are more alert and they are getting a little more adventurous.
I had the babies out today and was playing with them for a bit, and I was holding their pouch in my left hand, when Nina (that's the mom) decides to climb out of the pouch and down the sleeve of my long sleeve shirt! I was the first time they have ventured to do such a thing. It was pretty cool...She climbed down to my arm-pit and then back out to the cuff and back into her pouch. They are definitely relaxing more around me, as I spend more time with them and the babies.
Too bad I hadn't take this time with them before...Not that they are mean or anti-social, just that I realize how much more social they can be. I'm sure the babies will be even friendlier growing up around the girls all the time.

  Mothers Day
I went to my mom's house for mothers day...I was running behind schedule, which for those who know me shouldn't come as a surprise. To add to the delay, I was picking up Elisa in Geneva, and grabbing a snack before we got to mom's house. Okay ... for some of you it may be obvious that you shouldn't try to 'pop in' anywhere in Geneva at 2 O'clock on a Sunday, but that apparently wasn't clear to Elisa and I...so it took forever for us to grab something to tide us over till dinner.
Well, we ended up having dinner at mom's house around 4:30. She made corned beef and cabbage...it was really good, and I ate my fill.
We played some 'apples to apples' and then Elisa and I went for a walk. It was a nice quiet visit. It was Odd being there without the kids.

  Glider babies
Abrigella
Abrigella
Nina and Cagel

I sent Tish a picture of one of the baby gliders so she could show it to the girls ... which prompted Elle to callme this morning to ask how the baby gliders are doing. She asked me to send some more pictures.
With this in mind, i have taken some pictures of the babies for the blog. Now, I was using Elisa's camera, and I was apparently too close on a lot of the pictures and they didn't turn out. I'm posting the ones that did...

So i turns out that all the blurry pictures were of Nathan, he is elusive, i'll have to send the paparazzi out after him...

  blogging
Okay, so I've been blogging for all of three days...I've had 6 posts, 7 including this one...and i find that i'm enjoying it. It nice to recap my day a little, it nice to know that my family can gain access to these log entries.
I just finished working from home on some development efforts for work...I spent the last 2.5 hours working...its 9:40 now...there is something wrong with that.
Ahh well, I am at least enjoying what i'm doing...developing a website for work.
I'm making beef stew in the background and have corn on the cobb in the oven. Elisa is almost home from Rugby practice. She called a while ago and said she hurt her neck in practice, i hope that turns out to be nothing serious.
When she gets here, we shall have beef stew, garlic bread and corn on the cobb.

  New 21" View
The help desk at work got new LCD (flat panel) monitors for all the help desk analysts, which left a ton of unused monitors laying about. Our management decided to sell them off to the employees and donate the proceeds to the RMHC (Ronald McDonald House Charities). I purchaed a 17" and 21" monitor for a whopping $30. Quite the steal. I replace the 15" monitor I had on my backup PC with the 21" monitor...what a view. The monitor may be about 5 years old, but has a crisp clear picture. It is a nice upgrade from the pathetic little one i had on that PC.
The 17" will go on my Third PC and my fourth will continue to be served up on my KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) switch, which lets me use one keyboard, monitor and mouse to switch between two PC's. I guess I should stop collecting compuers until i get a bigger office...maybe.

  peek-a-boo
I got home from work today and was getting ready to head over to Elisa's place for the night. I had to pack a bag and feed the gliders before I left, so i pulled out their food and did a few things around the house. I had to wait for the food to thaw some more, so i took the gliders out and played with them for a little bit. Nina was a little grumpy, but then i would be to if someone woke me up in the middle of the night (Remember that they are nocternal and don't usually want to wake up until 8:30 or so.)
I took out Nathan (the baby boy) and he had his eyes open! he looked around the room, up at me, and back at the pouch, and started to make his way over to it, in the uneasy jerky motion of the infant that he is. I played with him for a few minutes and then took out Abrigella (the baby girl) and played with her. Abby's eyes aren't open yet, but she was content to climb around on my hands for a while.
It's quite cool to watch the little ones reach these little milestones. They have been quite rewarding. Tisha and the girls will be taking one, possibly both of the babies...we have to see about a specialist Vet who might be able to neuter little Nathan in a few months.

  Molding Clay
I forgot to mention the molding clay.

On Saturday; Elle, Dane and I went to Dominick's to pick of some things and then we went to Blick Art Supply to look for an ink stamp pad and a pencil sharpener. We found a pencil sharpener that came with these nifty plastic caps to keep sharp pencils from having their tips broken, and found out that Blick doesn't sell stamp pads...hrmph. We did however find the blunt tip lefty scissors that we have been needing for dane!

The girls had 'cute' on in full force and were super polite to the girl behind the counter, which paid off for them because she gave them each a small package of white modeling clay (crayola) which they were quite excited about. When we got home, the girls spend hours playing with the modeling clay. Elle gave me one of her packages and I made a small head, which ended up looking like a crash test dummy head to me. Elle made a small dish for keeping earrings and such things in...and dane made a small jewelry box, and several small molding clay earrings and bracelets. We plan on painting them some time when next the girls are at my place. I guess we will have to head out to Blick again to pick up some paints and brushes.

A day with the girls and the ride to moms
Ahh...the joy of sleeping in.
Not for me, for the girls. I got up around 7 and made breakfast for Li and about then Dane wandered into the kitchen, rubbing her eyes and saying she was hungry. perfect! i'll make her some eggs...she is agreeable, and wanders back out of the kitchen.
well, eggs are done, so I go to tell dane, and ....she is asleep on the couch. Hrm..okay. Elle is still sleeping, so Li and I have breakfast together.
Eggs in a basket for her, scrambled eggs for me. All is well with the world. Li is working 12's this weekend, so I say goodbye to her for the day and set my sights on what the girls and I will do today.
We end up playing with the gliders, and pollys and Elle's new game 'word harmony'. So we spend the better part of the day inside, had some lunch, let lunch settle and headed out to the park.
The girls got to play with some friends, Taylor, Liddia and a few others at the park. The tire swing is as always the favorite, but the whole playground gets some attention today.
I brought a bag of bread, and Liddia Elle and Dane join me for feeding the ducks...and trying to catch a squirll. For some reason Liddia thought she could sneak up on it.
I got the girls home in time for breakfast...what? oh yeah, we had scrambled eggs and sausage for dinner...just like those restraunts that sell breakfast all day.
I took the girls home, and i'm off to see Lisa, after a long 12 hour day at work.
It was a fun weekend.

  gliders gowing up
Well, Nina and Cagil left the babies along in the pouch tonight. When i went to feed them, Cagel, and then Nina came out of the Wheel to eat, and i saw the pouch swinging and heard a baby glider chirping from within.
The babies are growing fast. Eyes are still not open, i've only known they were in there for a week and a half.
I told the girls tonight that if thier mother said it was okay, they could have the babies. hopefully that works out.

  Kids came over this weekend
Well, the girls came over this weekend...Their mother dropped them off...Which happens rarely. Tish wanted to see the Sugar Glider Babies, so she made the drive up to my place to drop off the girls. Joey came with, and Tisha and Joey really enjoyed the baby Sugar Gliders.

I had to work all night, but Li came over and watched a movie with the girls while I worked. By the time I was done working...the girls had already fallen asleep on the couch. I don't like having to work on the fridays they come over.

My introduction to Blogging, to help keep the family up to speed on what i'm up to...and give the kids a chance to comment on my perspective of things we do together.
